Caught up, take 2!

Okay, faithful readers - we are back on track. Unfortunately for you, this means posts all the way back to September 4th. Feel free to just browse through the pictures, they are worth thousands of words anyway, right?

Beggar's Night

Okay, so no details of the move followed – just too much going on. But, we are here – neck high in boxes (well, maybe knee high at this point) and so glad for the improved quality of life. We love the neighborhood, and were glad to have our first community ritual of Halloween today (called Beggar's Night in this foreign land called Ohio). We met lots of new neighbors and enjoyed the gracious vibe of our new ‘hood. eaw particularly loved the dress up aspect and the candy-acquisition part of the holiday. He had two costumes – Scooby Doo at school, and a dragon on the streets. We did do a quick change back into the Scooby Doo for a photo op with our neighbor who had the adult version of the costume. Too cute!

Happy Birthday Grandpa D!

Happy Birthday GHD2 – we love you!

We’re on the move!

That’s right, the Wall OH headquarters is moving! If all goes well, we should close next week (already too much drama to go into over closing, but hope springs eternal, right?) We provided eaw with a hearty, uplifting pancake breakfast and then put him to work. For the record, he is better at taking things out of the box – that’s my boy, keep thinking OUTSIDE the box.

VOTE

Eaw and I went down to the Veteran’s Administration Building this morning to vote early as an “in-person absentee ballot.” We are assured that these votes are NOT provisional and will be counted beginning in the morning of election day. I hope so. For the record, mdw voted for change…

Friends and Farms

mdw had the sheer delight of a visit from her good friend Carrie, who had just taken a tenure line job at Western Kentucky University. We had such a good time (except for an incident with Samantha, who once again, tried to eat Odin – he is fine, recovering well, but the medical bill is coming out of Sam’s allowance). The weekend included shopping at H&M (mdw didn’t even know there was one in OH); attending Bebe Miller’s latest work “Necessary Beauty”; a beautiful drive and visit to Kenyon; scoping out porch geese; Cranium; and squeals of laughter. Good friendship is good for the soul! Thanks for the laughter, Carrie.

After sending Carrie off on Sunday, we headed out to a gathering about an hour east at a family farm. It was a gathering of families who have all adopted children from Latin America. It was delightful. Eaw loved the cows and the hay ride. mtw held his own during a sack race, and mdw ruled during a “poop the potato” contest. It was nice to see eaw among peers and to connect with parents with whom we could compare “birth” stories.
