eaw and mdw set out Sunday morning to look for turtles. We have been making a concerted effort to visit the many Metroparks throughout Columbus to find some beauty and interact with nature more frequently. So far, they have been lovely but mdw notices that each one is somehow built right next to major highway so that the traffic sounds are background to nature (hence METROpark, I guess).

Anyway, we visited Blendon Woods this week, and were thrilled to discover they were a)lovely, b)woodsy, and c)not traffic-background-noisey! We joined a group of people in a session on turtles, and then walked out to an observation hut to view the turtles basking in the marsh. There were quite a few of them, although too far to see with the naked eye, and too difficult for eaw to see through the binoculars. Still, we saw a blue heron, and lots of other birds and greens.

we had a little turtle exploring on green lake on Memorial Day, I need to post some pictures... Great updates!
Good for you! I noticed that the zoo was close to the road as well--although I did nothear traffic noise there!
Have a great time with Mom!
