The Agony of Defeat

During our time in Utah, we had the pleasure of spending an entire evening with the Tolks. They have a beautiful home with a gorgeous view, and a brand new basement. mtw, eaw, and I picked up gpa Meaders and headed out to their lovely abode. We enjoyed a yummy dinner of Chinese food - eaw's first exposure to our knowledge. Then, we had some time to play with cousins which eaw loved -aet was in particularly spunky form - singing songs, dancing, laughing, and teaching eaw new things.

Shortly after dinner, we headed out to jbt's chambionship basketball game. He had quite the fan club, and gave us quite a show. Boy, can he hustle! eaw was beside himself with the stimulation - clapping whenever anyone made a basket (such the diplomat). jbt's team had some stiff competition, but they played their hearts out. It was a close game (we lost by two points only), and (in my opinion) biased by one of the refs. I almost got ejected from the game and jwt had to inform me that there was a code of conduct among parents. Hey, what can I say...I am very passionate and can't abide injustice. Fortunately, jbt was a much better sportsman, shaking hands with the other teammates and allowing himself to feel the disappointment of a hard loss. I was so proud of him!

This is a great report. Sorry we missed the game--we were in Phoenix!
